Staring at the girl in the mirror, I reach up to touch my face. Then, suddenly, my heart begins to race. Because, you see, I don’t recognize the girl starting back at me. But I realize I’m looking into her soul where she has kept everything hidden under lock and key.

Yeah that video is super interesting! I'm glad you showed it to me. I like the thought of if Jesus came to our churches today would we let him in? would we recognize him? honestly I don't think I would. Does it all depend on how we define religion though? Even in the Bible in James it talks about "Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orpahans and widows in their distress," or something close to that so that confuses me a little. I think we make Christianity so much about rules and what we do (which makes it really no different from all the other religions in the world)instead of our heart, loving God, and our friendship with Him. I don't want to make my walk with God into me striving and trying to be good enough for God. What do you think?
Bethany you are talking about what I've been thinking about!
I've heard there've been a lot of critiques of the video, namely about Jesus hating religion. I think it is just a misunderstanding of the term 'religion.' There's the definition, which is along the lines of belief, faith, doctrine, and practices. Then there's more our modern understanding of religion, especially here in the US. That's what this dude is talking about - the thought of religion that says it is about works and just doing stuff to please or reach God/gods. So I don't really like the critiques of him and I definitely agree with the dude and the heart of what he's saying. Christianity should center around Jesus, and we so often go astray from that. Great thoughts!!
